Sapa is not only famous for beautiful romantic sceneries and sightseeing but also attractive with a wide range of delicious dishes handmade by the locals. Today, I introduce two savory dishes which are my favorite, as a guide for you when you have a chance to resort to Sapa.
Barbecues
The cold weather in Sapa is compatible to the appreciation of barbecued food in Sapa. The pungency of grilled dishes there can make you warm and blushed. Numerous ingredients are integrated in order to serve you a perfect barbecue party. Of course, you will start by some grilled meat such as pork with Meo’s spinach and beef with enoki mushroom. Then, provide yourself with carbohydrates by having grilled yams, eggplants or corns. If you like fast-food, barbecued sausages and grilled chicken wings should be the best choices. Salmon can even become a barbecue if you order the servants in advance. All of the meat, fish and vegetables are well seasoned so surely you will feel excited when eating some.
About the prices, do not worry because the total payments for a couple can be maximally 300,000 VND (or $15), for a group of four or five members to be $30. Grilled dishes are appropriate for hanging out and chatting. You can find a lot of street restaurants when walking along the street in Sapa town.
Local salmons
Salmons are currently cultured in Sapa as the most successful fish farming plants. Fresh, bright salmon fillets attract tourists to enjoy. You can eat raw salmons like sashimi or combine them with rice and wasabi to make salmon sushi. Otherwise, a hot pot of salmon and special local vegetables as well as mushrooms is a good choice for who loves warmness, which is suitable for family dinner because love can be enhanced when you share the same pot. Additionally, if you like sourness, serve yourself with salmon fish stew.
Like in the part of barbecue, I will give you some information about the prices and restaurants. Sushi and sashimi should be self-made at home as they are simple enough to prepare yourself. Bring with you wasabi and soy sausage to use in such an “emergent” case (you cannot be keep calm seeing so fresh and pinky salmon fillet). Moreover, various restaurants near the central valley serve hot pots. They are clean and large enough for the group of a hundred people join together.
Having salmons is absolutely more costing than barbecue because they are luxury nourishment. Therefore, a kilogram of salmon in Sapa costs between 300,000 VND and 500,000 VND; and a hot pot’s price is from 300,000 VND to 600,000 VND, based on the toping you want to add.
